Areas of Service
The following is a list of service areas and brief descriptions for you to consider. Please refer to this when completing your Volunteer Staff Application. Volunteers must be at least 17 years of age, except where noted.
- Access Control (21 and older): Secure back gates and pass-required entry points. Strong personality required.
Accounting:FULL (ONLY ACCEPTING PREVIOUS ACCOUNTING VOLUNTEERS) Account for all funds incoming and outgoing. Banking or finance experience required.
- Admissions: Secure entry gates, check wristbands. Serve as guides for the general public.
Air 1 Stage Security (21 and older):FULL Help maintain order and proper conduct during performances. Help keep aisles clear and the general public from restricted areas. Double shifts required (9 hrs each day). Artist Merch. Sales:FULL Help sell artist and speaker merchandise. Experience in handling cash and credit card transactions is beneficial. Camping Helper / Camping Manager:FULL Help set-up and keep tent and RV camping areas organized. Managers should be available from Tuesday evening (July 30) through Sunday morning (August 4). Camp Managers work double shifts. (9 hrs each day). Children’s Ministry:See VeggieLand Construction:FULL Help with installation, repairs, etc. Experience in carpentry and plumbing is desirable. Volunteers needed to work pre-event. Double shifts required (9 hrs each day).
- Deaf Interpreter: Assist our hearing impaired/deaf attendees by signing during performances of the bands and speakers at various stages. ASL experience required.
Electrical (Pre-Event & during Event):FULL Work on the team that provides the “juice” to make the festival run. Electrical experience preferred, but we also need some “helpers.” Must be available starting Saturday, June 16 for set-up through the festival ending Sunday, June 24 . - Exhibits: Work with festival Exhibitors who have booths in the Exhibit Tent and Vendor Island. Help with Exhibitor check-in before the festival opens to the public and work in the Exhibits office during the festival. Must be available to work starting Wednesday, July 31 in the morning. Experience with customer service is beneficial.
Food Service:FULL Prepare and serve meals to SWC leadership personnel. Clean up kitchen and eating area. General Store: FULL Assist in the SWC store with selling and stocking merchandise. Experience in handling cash transactions is beneficial. Golf Cart Management / Maintenance: FULL Responsible for checking in and out golf carts before and at end of festival. Looking for someone who has mechanical knowledge to also be on this team. This person would be doing repair to carts as needed. We need volunteers that can work pre and post festival (beginning Tuesday July 30) as well as volunteers to work during normal festival hours. Volunteers would work “on call” and be kept busy on and off during the entire event.
- Ice/Water:Assist in sales and distribution of water and ice to vendors and SWC booths. Experience in handling cash transactions is beneficial.
Information Technology:FULL Don’t let “IT” fool you. We need network techs/engineers, wireless engineers, web architects, PC techs, and more! We’ll be setting up a monster wi-fi network and need your help getting all the gear setup, deployed, and talking to each other flawlessly. - Medical: Doctors, nurses, paramedics, and certified EMTs to help at first aid stations. Current medical license or certificate required.
Ministry:FULL You will be assigned to work in either a Prayer Tent or the Ministry Administration Tent. In the Prayer Tents, volunteers will be praying with festival attendees. In the Administration Tent, volunteers will help check in and distribute information to Altar Call workers. Must be mature, spiritual minded and have a heart for people and prayer. Gifted intercessors, pastors and counselors are most welcome. Volunteers may also have the opportunity to help with Altar Calls in addition to working in a tent. If you are interested in Children’s Ministry, see Veggieland. Parking & Traffic (15 and older):FULL Help with the direction of traffic, the parking of vehicles and general traffic safety. Production Tech:FULL Loading-in and loading-out the sound and lights, musical equipment, etc. and helping with on-stage set-changes. Experience required. Double shifts required (9 hrs each day). Property Maintenance (21 and older):FULL Provide help in setting up the festival beginning Monday, July 29 if available. Work on maintaining all different types of areas of the festival grounds. Work includes banner frame building and hanging, fencing areas, laying astro turf, etc. Handyman-type individuals needed for this area.
- Public Relations: Answer questions, help in Lost & Found, sometimes with children. A friendly, outgoing personality is important. Knowledge of festival grounds beneficial.
Purchasing/Receiving (25 and older): FULL Supports the SWC event by ordering, picking up, receiving and delivering supplies throughout the grounds, before, during and after the event. Driving may be required. Familiarity with the Monterey area is helpful. Volunteers are needed pre-event (Mon-Wed), during the event (Wed-Sat), post-event (Sun), or a combination of these times. Double shifts required (9 hrs each day).
- Security (21 and older): Provide general 24-hour security of the grounds. A great place for peace officers to serve. Especially needed are overnight personnel. Double shifts are required (9 hrs each day).
Shuttles (non-drivers):FULL Provide assistance to ensure that attendees are transported to their campground or parking lot in a safe and timely manner. Volunteers will oversee the drop off/pick up site near the main entrance, will help keep the lines to the shuttles in order and assistance in the loading/unloading of festival attendees. Volunteers should be available to work late evenings when the shuttles are the busiest. Sports & Recreation (15 and older): FULL Manage sports areas and activities (basketball, volleyball, etc.) SWC Booth:FULL Help sell SWC merchandise. Experience in handling cash transactions is beneficial. Transportation / Drivers (25 and older):FULL Transportation staff will transport key personnel to and from the airport, hotels, etc. All transportation staff must have a clean driving record and be familiar with the Salinas/Monterey area. In some cases volunteer staff will be driving their own vehicles (primarily vans) and must have their own (active) insurance in addition to festival insurance. Double shifts required (9 hrs each day). Ushers:FULL Serve as ushers at performances, assist with Lost & Found. A good problem solver and experience in working with the public is desired. VeggieLand (15 and older):Assist is various children’s ministries activities including crafts, entering and exiting the petting zoo, etc. Volunteers may be subject to a background check. Video Tech:FULL Be part of the Image Magnification Team. Must have experience as a cameraman or tech director. Double shifts required (9 hrs each day). Volunteer Administration:FULL Assist with volunteer check in at Check-in Row before and during the festival. Hand out volunteer packets and t-shirts. Monitor lines at the check-in tent. Assist in light administrative duties (filing, data entry etc.). Must have great customer service skills. Volunteers may also assist at the Guest Services booth during down time. Volunteer may be required to stand for long periods of time and/or do light lifting. Must be available to work beginning 2:00pm on Wednesday. Double shifts preferred but not required.
